CRYSTAL FALLS—To the shock of probably nobody, the McNeil Oilers are the champions of the Crystal Falls Men’s Basketball League.
The perennial champs defeated Fob’s 114-66 in the championship game, played March 26. No information on top scorers was available.
According to league officials, the Oilers finished the season with a spotless 10-0 won-lost record, and three teams—Generations, Fob’s and Shamco—tied for second place with 6-4 records. Infield Bar took last place in the standings at 0-10.
But are those records accurate? Who can say? Let’s do the math! The five teams total 28 wins and 22 losses. (The total wins and losses should be equal.) Also, there were a total of 20 games played in the five-team league’s schedule, with each team playing eight (not 10) games.
Regardless, the Oilers finished head-and-shoulders above everyone else. Like the laws of math, some things never change.
