IRON RIVER—The Northwoods Animal Shelter is currently working with a recycling company for ink jet cartridges, laser cartridges, cell phones, digital cameras, laptops, tablets, mp3 players, GPS systems and headphones.
The company is having a recycling contest between Feb. 1 and April 30.
During this time period, the shelter will receive cash for qualifying items and one point for each item.
The shelter is asking everyone in the area to help by bringing in their recyclable items to the shelter building on M-189 in Iron River or to Sentinel Technologies, Crystal Falls, to assist with the contest.  There is a chance for a $5,000 prize for first place, $1,000 for second and $500 for third.
Presently it has an excellent chance to place in this contest and with community help perhaps, it could win.
Joanne Place of Gaastra has donated a Carrie Jacobs-Bond Quilter’s quilt to be raffled off after the contest.
Entry will be one chance given for each item you donate toward the recycle contest.
