IRON RIVER—Several events have been scheduled late this week to give Iron River Olympian Nick Baumgartner a big send-off prior to his departure for the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, next month.
A dinner in his honor will be held Thursday, Jan. 30, and West Iron County High School plans a pep rally for on Friday, Jan. 31. Baumgartner will be attending both events.
The dinner will be held at Alice’s Supper Club, located at 402 W. Adams St. It’s a chicken and spaghetti dinner and will also include a 50-50 drawing along with raffles.
All tickets are $10 and are available at the AmericInn, Scott’s Subs, CoVantage Credit Union and the Stambaugh Elementary School office. To-go orders will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. if you have a ticket.
The pep rally will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, in the high school gym and is open to the public. School officials were working out details of the event early this week.
