Amasa FD sets chili contest, auction PDF Print E-mail

AMASA—With all the cold weather Iron County has had lately, the Amasa-Hematite Fire Department is holding an event that ought to hit the spot: a chili cook-off.
It’s one of three fund-raising events taking place Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Rec Center on Trappers Lane. The event starts at 4 p.m. and will be followed by an auction and bake sale.
The events are being held to raise money for new turnout gear for the Amasa-Hematite firefighters. Everyone is welcome to come, taste the chili recipes and stay for the auction and bake sale. Admission fee is $5.
Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place in the chili contest. There is no entry fee: Register at the Tall Pines Grocery or the Rusty Sawblade. Entry deadline is Jan. 20.
The auction will feature gift certificates from many area businesses along with some big prizes, including autographed gear from the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Red Wings.
