CRYSTAL FALLS—Jim Brennan was voted chairman of the County Board of Commissioners during its annual reorganizational meeting Jan. 2.
Brennan, who represents District 2 (Bates Township and the north half of Iron River), was selected on a 3-2 vote over former Chairman Carl Lind, who is from District 4 (Mastodon Township and the city of Crystal Falls).
Commissioners Patti Peretto, Timothy Aho and Brennan voted for Brennan, while Ray Coates and Lind voted for Lind. The vote is for a one-year term.
After Brennan was selected, commissioners elected Coates as vice chairman and Aho as Finance Committee chair. Steve Tinti was unanimously re-elected as the board’s civil counsel.
The board will meet once a month, on the second Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Finance Committee will meet every other Tuesday at 1 p.m.
Commissioners also approved rules of order and local depositories before adjourning the meeting. The next monthly meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 4 p.m.
