IRON COUNTY—YooperLand Realty has announced that Kelly Waters and John Mastie have joined the firm.
Waters and Mastie, working as a team, are both licensed Realtors and members of the National Association of Realtors, and Michigan Association of Realtors.
John Mastie, a life-long resident of Iron River, graduated from West Iron County High School in 2003. He attended Northern Michigan University where he earned an associate degree in criminal justice. In addition to working at YooperLand listing and selling real estate, he has been working as a licensed paramedic for nearly seven years.
John is full of ambition and is quickly building his list of buyers and sellers and shoots to be in the top 10 agents in Iron County sales. He notes many buyers don’t seem to know that a Realtor who belongs to the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) can assist in the buying and selling of any property listed through any other real estate office.
“I always found real estate exciting,” Mastie said, “and am interested in the investment potential on all levels of the market. Since I can’t buy it all, I thought it would be good to be part of helping others with their dreams.”
Kelly Waters attended the Holloway Real Estate Institute earlier this year and passed the Michigan real estate salesperson-licensing exam in September. She is a 1998 graduate of West Iron County High School and has served the community as a paramedic for 12 years and more recently as waitress at Riverside Pizzeria.
Asked why she entered the real estate business, she responded, “My passion is helping people, and this is another way I can help those in our community.” Having recently purchased and sold a home, Kelly knows first-hand how challenging and stressful it can be. “Having someone to walk me through finding a home and purchasing it was invaluable. Now I can do that for someone else,” she said.
A native of Iron River, she resides here with her two children. She enjoys family activities, helping in her children’s classrooms during the school year, running, target shooting, motorcycles, and raising their two indoor potbellied pigs.
YooperLand broker Jeff Dohl said, “John and Kelly have put together a very smart idea. Real estate teams are not a new idea, but we haven’t seen much of them in this market.
With two personalities, two heads and two hearts in the game for you, the odds are stacked in your favor from the moment you enter the market.”
Waters and Mastie can be contacted at YooperLand Realty, 1 E. Genesee St., Iron River. Kelly can be contacted by e-mail at and John at, or by phone at 265-9422.
