AMASA—Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church has several community events planned for December.
On Sunday, Dec. 22, the Amasa Community Church School will present “Sleepover at the Stable” at 3p.m. at the Amasa Area Recreation Center.
The children have been practicing for several weeks and invite everyone to attend. Following the program, those wishing to go caroling around Amasa are invited to Bethany Lutheran Church at 5 p.m. After caroling, the singers will return to Bethany for hot chocolate, warm cider and cookies.
The Christmas Eve candlelight service begins at 9 p.m. on Dec. 24.  Everybody in the community and surrounding area is welcome to attend this special service.
During this Advent Season, Bethany is collecting funds to purchase animals and provide other forms of sustainable assistance to the needy around the world – including here in the United States.
Barnyard animals are purchased through the ELCA World Hunger program, which provides animals as well as training and education to help people set up a sustainable form of income and help them to become independent wage earners.
The final collection will be Sunday, Dec. 29, when the money collected will be sent to the Northern Great Lakes Synod and then on to the ELCA headquarters.
