MARQUETTE—Long-time host of TV6’s “Discovering” program Buck LeVasseur is officially passing the torch to local outdoor videographer/producer Brian Whitens.
“I’m no longer physically able to do the job,” says LeVasseur, “but Brian is a very qualified person. He is very talented, does a wonderful job and he really knows what he’s doing in the outdoors.”
Buck recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of “Discovering,” which has run continuously on TV6 since 1982. The award winning outdoor program has become a fixture on TV6 at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time every Monday night, as Buck and now Brian explore the people and places that make Upper Michigan such a wonderfully diverse place to play and live.
President and CEO Rob Jamros commented, “Buck has been such an integral part of the TV6 family for so long that it’s difficult to comprehend that he’s really leaving. But as proud as we are of Buck’s accomplishments over the past 30 years, we are confident that Brian Whitens can carry on the tradition that is ‘Discovering’.”
Whitens, who has been acting as interim “Discovering” host over the past year says, “I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to be associated with something that is so much a part of the Upper Peninsula. What Buck has accomplished is nothing short of amazing and it’s an absolute honor to sit in his chair.”
“Discovering” airs on TV6 every Monday at 6:30 p.m. Central Time.
