CRYSTAL FALLS—Forest Park’s volleyball team got its dual match season off to a good start Aug. 29, earning a 3-0 win at Carney-Nadeau.
The scores were 25-15, 25-14, 25-19. Including the Kingsford Invitational, the Lady Trojans are 2-1-2 overall and 1-0 in the Skyline Conference.
Coach Kim Bjork said the girls’ communication was better than at Kingsford, and they did a great job moving on the floor.
“We did struggle with serving tonight,” she noted, “but we are serving more aggressively.”
Team stat leaders were Lexi Gussert, 12 kills and two aces; Libby Shamion, three aces, three blocks, two kills and two block assists; Maria Stankewicz, 18 assists, two aces, two block assists; Michaela Steiro, five kills; and Adel Isaacson, three aces.
After the Labor Day break, the Lady Trojans host Bark River-Harris Sept. 5 on Parents Night; take part in the Great Eight Invitational at West Iron on Sept. 7; and visit Mid Peninsula Sept. 10.
