CASPIAN—The Iron County Museum will offer free admission for everyone on Sunday, Sept. 1, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the Miners Day Family Picnic.
Ironland will provide music from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. for the outdoor celebration to honor all former miners of the area.
A traditional memorial wreath ceremony will take place in the mining hall area of the museum, in remembrance of miners who were killed in past accidents.
Outdoor picnic foods will include hot dogs, brats, watermelon and other goodies. Homemade pies will also be available.
Mining tours will be offered as well as tours of the Stager Depot. The Classic Farm Machinery Group will demonstrate working antique machinery and chug into the museum grounds with several classic farm tractors. Sven the Blacksmith will be on hand to explain why every mining location needed a blacksmith shop on site. There will be games and face painting for kids.
Many other interesting displays are being planned for this second annual family day picnic, which welcomes everyone in the community.
The Miners Family Day picnic is being sponsored by Miners State Bank of Iron River.
