CHICAUGON LAKE—The Iron County All Veterans’ recognition picnic will be held on Sunday, Sept. 1 at the Pentoga Park pavilion.
Everyone from various veterans’ organizations and their auxiliaries are invited to attend the event. Veterans visiting the area and their immediate families are also welcome to attend the picnic.
The registration desk will be set up starting at noon and continuing for the afternoon. Each adult donating-registrant will receive a single door prize ticket to retain for drawing sometime around mid-afternoon. At the desk, tickets for the 50/50 raffle and other fundraising sales will be available throughout the afternoon. Big item raffle prize tickets will be available for five specially purchased items.
A short opening ceremony will take place at 12:50 p.m. beginning with the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. Bob Black will present a few words honoring various veteran individuals and groups.
The main picnic dishes will be served starting at 1:30 p.m. and continuing throughout the day. The dishes, utnesils and liquid refreshments will be available at no charge. This year’s main dishes include bratwursts, hot dogs and hamburgers. A passing dish would be appreciated.
Music for this year’s picnic will be provided by Reggie and the Rascals during the afternoon.
“We hope to have enough volunteer help so that everyone involved will have a great time making new acquaintances and enjoying old friends in the spirit of comradeship,” said a spokesperson.
