IRON RIVER—On Aug. 23 at approximately 12:15 a.m., a trooper from the Iron Mountain Post was injured while responding to an suspicious situation on Genesee Street.
When he arrived, the trooper, who was not identified, discovered that a large front window of a business had been broken. He saw a blood trail leading from the scene and tracked the suspect to a residence a few blocks away.
The suspect, identified only as a 30-year-old Iron River resident, fled on foot at the sight of the trooper. The trooper pursued and was injured when he fell during the pursuit but was still able to catch and apprehend the suspect.
The suspect was treated at NorthStar Health Systems for injuries sustained in the window-breaking incident, and the trooper was treated and released for the injuries sustained during the pursuit.
The suspect was lodged in the Iron County Jail. The State Police trooper was assisted by the Iron County Sheriff’s Department.
