Blues Fest comes to Alpha PDF Print E-mail

ALPHA—The End of Summer Blues Fest, sponsored by the Iron County Chamber of Commerce, will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Pavilion behind the Village Hall.
Six bands will perform during the fest including Iron Land at 12:30, Willi Tatu at 1:30 p.m., the Fireside Band at 3, Flat Broke Blues Band at 4:30 and Michael Murphy and the MOB at 7.
A public “Blues be Gone” wedding ceremony will take place at 4:15. A tie-dyed and decorated T-shirt contest starts at 6:45.
Food and merchandise vendors will be set up inside the fest, and a “blues berry” pie eating contest will start at 2:30. Refreshments will be provided by the Alpha-Mastodon Township Fire Department. No carry-ins will be allowed, other than bag chairs for seating.
Gates open at noon. Admission is $7 for adults. Children under 12 will have free admission with an adult.
Prior to the event, there will be a blessing of the motorcycles, and a Veterans Memorial tribute will begin at 11 a.m. Motorcycles and cars will ride from Alpha to veterans memorials throughout Iron County and then back to Alpha, where cards will drawn to win a free high definition TV.
