CRYSTAL FALLS--The Crystal Falls Business Association has announced the schedule for the upcoming Humungus Fungus Fest on Aug. 7-11.
The fest kicks off on Wednesday, Aug. 7, with a teen talent contest at 6:30 p.m. at the Lions Club building at Runkle Lake Park.
On Thursday, Aug. 8, it’s time to watch the teens play softball at Runkle Lake Park at 6:30 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 9
Begin the morning by watching the youth golf outing at the Crystal View course at 9 a.m. For more information about the youth golf event, call 875-3029.
Next, it’s time to do some shopping at the Fungus Fest Sidewalk Sales from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you can’t get all of your shopping done Friday, you can still shop the sidewalk sales on Saturday.

After filling your shopping bags, head over to United Lutheran Church for delicious pasties sold by the Academic Boosters Club at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
St. Mark’s Church is providing more delicious food at the salad luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Harbour House Museum’s Mushroom Cook-Off will start at 1 p.m. and go until 3.
Move on down the hill to the Senior Citizens Center at 1:30 p.m. to watch the cribbage tournament. For more information about the tournament, call 875-6709.
At 5 p.m., the ball race takes place on Superior Avenue, followed by the Mushroom Pride Parade at 5:30 p.m.
The day will end with the women’s and men’s softball games at Runkle Lake at 6 p.m. For more information about the softball games, call 906-284-2398.
Saturday, Aug. 10
Saturday’s events begin with more shopping at the Fungus Fest sidewalk sales from 9 a.m. until noon.
Take a break from shopping and enjoy delicious threats during a pie social at Christ United Methodist Church from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
At 11 a.m., Runkle Lake Park is the place to be for the day beginning with the annual volleyball matches. For more information about volleyball, call 906-367-0695.
Mid-night Storm Rockin’ Blues Band will perform at Runkle Lake Park from noon until 6 p.m.
At 1 p.m., the buckboard and horseshoe tournaments begin. For more information about the buckboard tournament, call 906-822-0267. For more information about the horseshoe tournament, call 875-4515.
The events for Saturday come to a close at 7 p.m. with the Runkle Lake Park dance.
Sunday, Aug. 11
The Humungus Fungus Fest will have its last event at 6 p.m. at The Crystal Theatre, when Tony Rocker will be performing an Elvis tribute.
