Sheriff looks into cemetery thefts PDF Print E-mail

CRYSTAL FALLS—The Iron County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of grave site decorations from the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls.
Sheriff’s deputies have identified a suspect and have recovered numerous items from a Crystal Falls resident.  Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, the identity of the suspect will not be released until they are charged and arraigned in the Iron County Trial Court.
On Thursday morning, Aug. 1, deputies from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office recovered property believed to have been stolen from the cemetery.  Deputies have only been able to identify two victims of the theft.  Numerous items remain unidentified and have not been connected to a victim.
Anyone who has experienced theft from a gravesite at the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls are asked to call the Iron County Sheriff’s Office at 875-0650 and schedule an appointment to view the unidentified property.  Investigating deputies are looking to connect the theft victims by identification of the recovered stolen property.
