IRON RIVER—All members of American Legion Reino Post 21, its Auxiliary, Sons of the Legion and Legion Riders are invited to a picnic at Sunset Lake on Saturday, Aug. 3, at noon.
The group will be eating at 2 p.m. Members are asked to bring dishes to pass, and Post 21 will supply the drinks, chicken, brats, corn and hot dogs. Munchies and corn will be available at noon. There will be drawings, raffles and 50-50s all day.
The group is collecting dues at that time. Legion dues are $35, Auxiliary dues are $25, Sons are $15 and Legion Riders are $12.
“We would like to see some new young members,” said a spokesman. “If you take a DD214 to the Legion or to a member officer, you can sign up to join.
“Our Desert Storm from 1990 on, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, women and men, are greatly needed to keep our legion open and thriving.” Contact Andy Becker, service officer, about VA help or any other questions—contact the post for his phone number.
The post will hold its annual rummage and bake sale on Aug. 9 and 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the basement of the Post 21 hall. All new items, and all money goes towards scholarships, the animal shelter, the museum, the cancer unit, veterans fundraisers and VA hospitals.
