Over 200 in rainy Bass Run PDF Print E-mail

CRYSTAL FALLS—Participants in the annual Run Your Bass Off race at Runkle Lake Park July 7 didn’t let a little rain get in their way.
In all, 203 runners took part in the annual event—59 in the 10K RYBO race and 144 in the 3.6- mile (5.8K) Half Bass run. The event is held as part of the Bass Festival, with all races starting and ending at the park.
Mike Hedtke of Neenah, Wis., won the 10K RYBO event, finishing in 36 minutes, 30.3 seconds—22 seconds ahead of second place Tony Silva of Crystal Falls, who finished in 36:52. Another CF resident, Erich Ziegler, was fourth overall in 40:16.4.
Kyle Rosseau of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Iron River, was third in 38:07.4. Other Iron County runners were Fred Jacobs, 16th overall; Nathan Clark, 21st; and Arlen Sunn, 28th.
In the women’s division, Sara Trevillian of Iron Mountain crossed the finish line first in 43:00.3. West Iron grad Jaclyn Waara was sixth place overall in 46:45.9.
Other Iron County runners were Christine Grabowski, 13th overall; Sur Burke, 14th; Deanna Mackenzie, 16th; Jenna Grabowski, 24th; and Katie Clark, 25th.
In the women’s Half Bass race, Rachel King of St. Michael, Minn., finished first in 23:36.1. Iron County runners were second and third: Kylee Erickson of Iron River was second in 27:10.6 and Jessie Surface of Crystal Falls took third in 28:19.0.
Other Iron County runners in the Half Bass were Samantha Olson, 10th overall; Jessica Brzoznowski, 13th; Mollie Boehmke, 18th; Taylor Clark, 18th; Daryl Arcand, 21st; Amy Tomasello, 34th; Sarah Graff, 40th; Mia Arcand, 42nd; Betsy Salonen, 60th; Lesli Arcand, 61st; Jean Bushie, 68th; Sherry Pangrazzi, 69th; and Joyce Ziegler, 71st.
The men’s Half Bass winner was Mark Jasper of Menominee, who finished in 20:22.1. Amasa’s Mark Hallman was fourth overall in 22:02.1.
Also in the Half Bass from Iron County were Dan Surface, 17th overall; Anders Ahlberg, 24th; Billy Rivi, 27th; John Grandahl, 28th; Dustin Johnson, 36th; Jeremy Johnson, 39th; and Don Peterson, 63rd. 
In the 10K age groups, Waara won the women’s 14-19 group, Silva won the men’s 20-29 class; Ziegler won the men’s 30-39; and Sunn won the men’s 70-79 in 1:01.05.4.
As for the Half Bass age groups, county winners were Erickson in women’s 14-19; Surface in women’s 20-29; and Salonen in women’s 70-79.
