IRON RIVER—Grace Covenant Church is pleased to welcome the Sonship Quartet and Jim Plougher to Iron River, this Sunday, July 21 at 6 p.m. in the Grace Covenant Church sanctuary. This concert is the second of three concerts in the 2013 Grace Covenant Church Summer Concert Series. The public is invited to enjoy a great evening of inspiring music and fellowship.
In 2005 Brad Ankney and his father, Ken Ankney formed Sonship Quartet with the express intent of creating a young, energetic group with a unique sound. They spent the first few years training young men to fill each position, and in 2009, when everything began to click, they followed God’s call on their lives and hit the road, said a spokesperson. In 2010 the group began to experience what it looked like to see God’s hand on their lives as exciting changes took place. Great songwriter and piano player, Jim Plaugher, joined the group.  He added an unprecedented level of quality to each program.
Later in 2010, the group added former piano player, Terry Gabbard, age 21, to the roster to fill the baritone position.  His high energy and youthfulness is endearing to people of all ages.  The bass singer is 22 year old Taylor Ball out of Adrian.
The Summer Concert Series started at Grace Covenant Church in 1998. guests are invited to enjoy an evening of entertainment, light refreshments and fellowship in the lower level of the church.
A freewill offering is accepted and applied to the expenses of the Summer Concert Series.  One more event remains in the 2013 Summer Concert Series:  The Cody Clauson Trio on Aug. 11.
