ALPHA—Participating in the Porter School Farmers Market is a great way for local farmers, hobby gardeners and crafters to promote Iron County.
“We are looking for area farmers to help showcase what agricultural products are grown and raised in Iron County,” said a spokesman, “as well as hand-crafted creations.
“We will have table space available for anyone willing to sell locally grown produce or products from their farm and/or kitchen under the Cottage Industry guidelines set by the Michigan Department of Agriculture. “
The Porter School Farmers Market is scheduled to open Saturday, June 15, in the village of Alpha. Market days are every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. The cost of a space under the market stand is $5 for the day or $60 for the season, which runs until about the end of September.
Anyone interested in participating can pick up an information packet, which includes vendor agreements, at the Alpha General Store. If you have questions or need more information, feel free to call Maureen Elson at 284-0661 or email mce459@yahoo.com.
