Wykon girls race to wins at two quadrangulars PDF Print E-mail

IRON RIVER—West Iron County’s girls continued their winning ways May 7 by winning a four-team meet at Kingsford. The Wykons won six events, and both Cassilyn Pellizzer and Victoria Hoogenboom won twice.
The Wykons also finished first at a quadrangular held at Nelson Field on May 10.
At Kingsford: Pellizzer won both hurdles events, winning the 100 highs in 17.63 seconds and the 300 lows in 50.03. Hoogenboom continued her dominance in the distance races, taking the 1600 run in 5 minutes, 59.94 seconds and the 3200 in 13:26.84.
Megan Miatech earned another victory in shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 11.75 inches. West Iron’s 1600 relay earned the last win, in 4:32.69.
Six WIC entries took second place: Ally Jo Polich in the 110 highs, Pellizzer in high jump, Ashley Capadagli, in pole vault (tied) and the Wykons’ 3200, 800 and 400 relay teams. Thirds went to Rebekah Serbinski in the 1600 and 3200 runs, Casey Harrington in the 100, Hoogenboom in the 800 and Carli Johnson in the 200.
West Iron finished with 90.5 points, followed by Houghton (83.5) and Kingsford (64).

The West Iron boys took third place at Kingsford. The home Flivvers won with 103 points, ahead of Houghton (72) and the Wykons 43).
The Wykons won three boys events: Chasz Jonet in shot put (40-6.5), Ryan Rogers in long jump (17-8) and the 800-meter relay team (1:38.75). No other results were available.
Quadrangular: West Iron hosted a four-team meet at Nelson Field on May 10, and the Wykon girls earned more than half the points in girls competition: 143. Calumet was second with 64, and Houghton took third at 37.
Wykons won nine events and three relays. Hoogenboom won three events, the 1600, 800 and 3200 meter runs, Pellizzer took both hurdles events, and other wins came from Kylee Erickson (400), Miatech (shot), Alexis Golfis (high jump) and Capadagli (pole vault).

West Iron’s boys team took third place at the Nelson Field meet. Calumet took first with 103 points, Houghton was second at 94, and West Iron third at 54.
The Wykons got firsts from Tyler Stafford (100), Colton Pangrazzi (400), Nik Thoney (200) and the 800 and 1600 relay teams.
Seconds were earned by Thoney (100), Brandon Clifford (800), Chasz Jonet (shot put) and Brandon Olson (long jump).
