ALPHA—Beginning this month, Mary Ellen Marchinowski will be reading adventurous stories to eager student listeners every Saturday.
This free program is open to all youths at the Porter School Library and Resource Center, located in the historic Porter School in the village of Alpha.
The weekly program begins at 10 a.m. and lasts about an hour and will consist of short stories and chapter books. Students who have favorite books or authors can let Mary Ellen know so she can include them in the program. Reading Adventures will run through Saturday, Sept. 7.
Children are encouraged to get a free library card and check out books to read on their own. There is also a nice selection of gently used books for all ages in “Back Room Books.” Young readers can find a great selection in a wide range of topics. The cost is only 25 cents for softcover and 50 cents for hardcover books.
