Scott Roehl (left), operations supervisor for the Upper Peninsula Power Co., presents a $500 check to Dan Hinch, treasurer of the West Iron County Athletic Booster Club. The funds will be used to help pay for accessibility improvements at Nelson Field. The boosters are raising money to match a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant of $49,900 for handicap and elderly access improvements. The grant requires a $19,139 match ($10,000 in cash and the rest in-kind). The project will improve access behind the grandstand and create a deck left of the grandstand. Hinch said he hopes construction can begin in August so the work can be completed in time for this fall’s Wykon football season.
