CASPIAN— The Iron County Historical and Museum Society received a $1,500 grant for Director Ross Parcels to attend an American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) Project Management Workshop in Denver March 7-8.
The Museum Society itself is providing 25 percent matching funds of the grant total in support of the director attendance at the workshop.
The grant is from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs minigrant program, administered by the Copper Country Community Arts Council. This unique workshop improves how history museums operate and serve their communities by teaching the fundamentals of project management to history professionals.
An AASLH spokesperson noted: “Everyday work—exhibitions, programming, fundraising, special events, outreach, and collections care—benefits from the knowledge gained.”
