CRYSTAL FALLS—An Iron River man will appear for a March 4 preliminary hearing in Iron County Trial Court on multiple allegations of criminal sexual conduct with children.
Dennis Alan Johnson, 54, faces two felony counts of criminal sexual conduct first-degree and three felony counts of criminal sexual conduct second-degree. The charges stem from allegations involving three different female victims under the age of 13 from 2006 to 2010. The incidents allegedly occurred in Iron River.
If convicted on the first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge, Johnson would serve a mandatory minimum of 25 years in prison. If convicted of the second-degree charges, he would spend up to 15 years in prison.
During a Feb. 15 arraignment, Judge C. Joseph Schwedler set bond at $50,000 cash and barred the suspect from having any contact with the victims, their families or anyone younger than 18.
During the arraignment, Prosecutor Melissa Powell urged the high bail, claiming she is concerned about Johnson’s mental health and that he may be a flight risk. Johnson has no criminal history.
Schwedler may readdress the bond after Johnson meets with an attorney.
