F.P. students do well at Solo and Ensemble PDF Print E-mail

CRYSTAL FALLS—Select musicians from the Forest Park Junior and Senior High Band participated in the District 14 Solo and Ensemble Festival Feb. 2 in Escanaba.
The students performed their musical selections before judges who then awarded each musician a score. All Forest Park students earned an “1” rating.
Seniors were: Brittany Olson, tenor and alto sax; Leslie Luft, alto sax; and Tina Takala, trumpet. Sophomores were: Daniel Stebic, trombone; and Ben Frisanco, marimba. Freshman Annie Taylor performed a solo on the alto sax. Eighth grade students who participated were: Becky Showers, flute; and Paul Santi, marimba. Seventh grade students were: Alina Soha, flute; Maddie Scarlassara, flute, Carolyn Bloomburg, flute; Amanda Brin, flute and Kristin Stacy, trombone.
All students in grades 9 to 12 qualify for the State Solo and Ensemble, which will be held on March 23 in Marquette.
The Music Boosters thanked Betty Soderberg for donating her talents to the music department by accompanying and working with the soloists.
The Senior High Band will participate in District 14 Band Festival in Marquette on Feb. 28. The band, directed by Norm Vanaman, will receive scores based on their performance of three selections. In addition, they will receive a score for sight reading.
The Music Boosters will sponsor a musical field trip for the senior high band members. Students will be get to attend a production of “The Lion King” on April 14 in Appleton.
Parents and students can mark their calendars for the annual concert on Tuesday, March 19, at 7 p.m.
