CRYSTAL FALLS—A former Alpha village clerk who faced eight felony charges has reached a plea agreement with Iron County prosecutors.
Nicholas John Rickman was originally charged with three felony counts of forgery, three felony counts of uttering and publishing and one count each of embezzlement by a public official and embezzlement by a public official of tax monies, according to court documents.
Rickman was arrested on a warrant by Iron County Sheriff’s Department deputies last November after a two-month investigation, charging that he had written three checks totaling $510.
The three forgery charges were amended to attempted forgery and the other five charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement. In exchange, Rickman pleaded guilty to the three attempted forgery charges.
Rickman is scheduled to appear in Iron County Trial Court for sentencing on March 4 at 10 a.m.
