IRON MOUNTAIN—A large turnout of anglers enjoyed a warm day on the ice at Lake Antoine Jan. 19 during the Jig It ice fishing tournament.
Andrew Leahy from Marquette brought home $2,500 in prize money for his 5.9-ounce perch. Erick St. John’s 5.4-ounce perch earned his second prize of a Jiffy Model 30 XT power auger with an 8XT drill assembly.
Rounding out the list of top prize winners are Jeff Brock, Courtland Taylor, Dan Holsworth and Scott Rugg.
Organizers report that 165 anglers bought holes for the tournament. During the first year, 13 youths brought holes in the kids’ area. This year, 35 registered.
“We were not ready for that large of an increase in the kids’ area but will be prepared next year,” said volunteer Tanya Schuster.
The event had prizes for anglers placing through 20th place.
