CRYSTAL FALLS--Deputies from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office investigated a single vehicle rollover accident on U.S. 141 near the Net River in Hematite Township.
On Nov. 13 at 7:56 a.m., Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting the incident. Deputies found a northbound vehicle driven by Leslie Freund, a 21-year-old Kenton man, went out of control on the ice-covered road and overturned in the ditch. Freund was not injured from the crash but was slightly injured while escaping the vehicle after it came to rest. He sought his own treatment.
Road conditions changed dramatically as travelers moved through Iron County. Conditions were clear and dry south of Crystal Falls. Scattered slippery spots were found between Crystal Falls and Amasa. North of Amasa, roads were ice-covered.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Northstar EMS and Northland Towing and Recovery.
