CRYSTAL FALLS—The regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary, Tufts Rondon VFW Post 2891 was Nov. 8. Thirteen members were present at the meeting. The auxiliary accepted four new members.
President Hazel Salin expressed thanks to new members; we’re hoping that the new members will take an active part in auxiliary workings.
“We’ve several activities planned for the upcoming months and will be happy for the ‘extra’ hands and feet to carry on the activities,” Salin said.
The ladies seek Christmas gifts for veterans, shut-ins and patients at VA and other medical facilities. Members and non-members may bring gifts to the VFW.
We’re also asking families of anyone serving oversees to get service members’ addresses so that everyone can receive a package. You can send the address to: Hazel Salin, 1352 S. U.S. 2, Crystal Falls, MI 49920 or drop it off at the VFW Club, 108 Crystal Ave., Crystal Falls.
The auxiliary will co-host a community-wide Children’s Christmas Party in December. The event is sponsored by the men’s auxiliary. The date has not been set.
The auxiliary gave a donation to the annual community Thanksgiving dinner and received a brochure on flag etiquette that was given out during Veterans’ Day at school. Copies are available at the community library. The auxiliary continues to sponsor a monthly Bingo party at the Iron County Medical Care Facility for residents and members. The auxiliary also works at a monthly blood drive in Crystal Falls and seeks younger volunteers to donate.
The post, men’s and ladies’ auxiliaries will hold an “old fashioned” tree decorating at 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at the club. Refreshments will be provided.
The next regular meeting of the auxiliary will be Thursday of Dec. 13 at 1:30 p.m. in the clubroom.
