IRON COUNTY—Area Veterans Day events kick off at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, with a breakfast for all area veterans in the commons area of West Iron County High School.
After the breakfast the public is invited to a program beginning at 10 a.m. in the Charles Greenlund Gymnasium, featuring a flag-folding ceremony with an explanation of flag etiquette. That will be followed by seventh and eighth grade students reading Patriot Pen letters. The program also features a history of Veterans Day, a bugler playing taps and a 21-gun salute.
On Sunday, Nov. 11, the Crystal Falls VFW hosts a celebration featuring radio and recording artist Jeff Walker and Friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Walker hosts a radio show on WXPR Public Radio, 99.1 from Rhinelander, and appears on Molly B’s Polka Party on RFD-TV.
The Forest Park High School gymnasium will host a program beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, in conjunction with American Legion Posts 87 and 2891.
Master of ceremonies Chris Sholander will preside over the East Side Veterans’ Council presentation of the colors, an address by speaker Don Boulanger and music by the Forest Park High School Band.
