CRYSTAL FALLS—New Iron County plat books are available for sale at the Courthouse.
The plat books arrived Thursday. A spiral bound edition sells for $40, and the new e-book edition will cost $75, according to County Clerk Joan Luhtanen. Customers can also purchase a color copy of individual pages for $5 through the county equalization office.
The county ordered 1,000 of the 2012-13 plat books from Rockford Map Publishers Inc. of Rockford, Ill. The last edition of the county plat book was released in 2008, and all of the copies have been sold.
While some customers still prefer the conventional hard copy plat book, e-books offer the option of being stored on laptops, smartphones or desktop computers. They can also be customized and reprinted according to individual needs. The county clerk’s office offers same-day email delivery of e-books. The e-book edition can be purchased via www.ironmi.org and following prompts under “departments” to “clerk.” Under Iron County clerk functions, click on the “on-line payment” function and use code 5878.
The plat book features a cover photo by Sue Strahan. It is the 19th edition of the plat book.
