CASPIAN—A golden anniversary year for the Iron County Historical Museum and Society will begin Saturday, Oct. 13, with a special program honoring Harold and Marcia Bernhardt, founders of the museum, and with a re-enactment of the first organizational meeting.
Harold Bernhardt was elected as the first president in October l962 and is still serving as a member of the present board of directors.
Marcia served as a recorder of the proceedings.
Present board members are being urged to participate in this re-enactment.
An afternoon reception, beginning at 1 p.m. will feature a book signing by Marcia and Harold Bernhardt.
Marcia has written more than 17 books and numerous publications.
Many of these books will be for sale and can be purchased that day for autographing.
Following the book signing, the dramatization of the start-up of the Iron County Historical Society will take place on stage in the Cultural Center.
Under the direction of Bill Leonoff, the skit is expected to be a big audience favorite. There will be no admission charge for this event, and the entire community is invited to attend.
Monthly programs are being planned through October 2013 in order to mark the numerous milestones that were achieved throughout the past 50 years.
