CRYSTAL FALLS—Once again the congregation at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, located at 809 Crystal Ave. here, invites pets and their people to a liturgy of the Blessing of Pets.
The event will take place outside the church on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Peg Padilla and Carolyn Orchard officiating.

“St. Mark’s sponsors the liturgy as a way of honoring our pets but also to raise public awareness of the many homeless animals in need of homes,” said Padilla
Anyone attending the pet blessing is therefore asked to bring something that can be used by the local animal shelter: Northwoods Animal Shelter. Their “wish list” includes such items as Pinesol, bleach, paper towels, blankets and towels.
Monetary donations for the food fund, the spay/neuter fund or the medical fund will also be accepted.
For more information on the needs at the shelter or to adopt a pet, contact the animal shelter directly at 265-7387 or visit its website at petfinder.com.
For more information about the pet blessing liturgy, contact Padilla at (906) 367-2531.
