IRON RIVER—Iron County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the “End of Summer Blues Fest” Saturday, Aug. 25, in the Alpha pavilion located behind the Village Hall.
Events kick off with the blessing of the bikes and bikers at 11 a.m. followed by the Veterans Freedom Ride and Memorial Poker Run.

During the run, motorcycles and cars will depart from Alpha and make their way through Iron County and then back to Alpha with stops at three area veterans’ memorials.
At the memorials, cards will be punched with riders vying for a chance to win a HDTV. The drawing will be held at 2 p.m.
Gates open at noon, said organizers. Admission is $5 with children under 12 free with an adult.
Beginning at 1 p.m., it’s “time for the blues,” note organizers, with “2/3 Iron” leading the list of musical entertainment.
A special “blues” treat is in store for area youngsters at 2 p.m. as Greg Higgins features a “Youth do the Blues” program aimed at providing a back appreciation for blues and music in general.
Wili Tatu will be featured at 3 p.m. followed by Piano Trio at 4:30, Blind James at 6 and Blue Smith at 8.
Those planning to attend are reminded that no carry-ins are allowed and everyone is asked to bring a bag chair.
Food and merchandise vendors will be located inside the pavilion.  Refreshments will be by the Alpha-Mastodon Fire Department.
