CRYSTAL FALLS—The 21st annual Humungus Fungus Fest will be held here the weekend of Aug. 2-5
The theme this year is “A Salute to Community Pride.”
Activities get under way Thursday, Aug. 2, with a teen softball game at Runkle Lake Park at 5 p.m., followed by a teen dance at the park from 7 to 10.
The Paint River Boardwalk band concert takes place at 7 p.m. and the beer-tasting fundraiser is planned at the Contemporary Center from 7 to 10 p.m.
Other events scheduled include:
Friday, Aug. 3: The Crystal View Youth Golf tournament beginning at 9 a.m. The tournament will offer a chance to win a four-wheeler on a Par 3 hole-in-one. To register for the youth golf event, call 875-3029.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., it’s time to get out and do a little shopping at the city-wide rummage sale. If you run out of time on Friday, you can continue your bargain-hunting spree on Saturday, note organizers.

The popular, and tasty, Forest Park Academic Boosters’ pasty sale will be held at United Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
More taste-bud friendly fun can be found at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church where its popular salad luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Then it’s off to the Harbour House Museum for the mushroom cook-off, which will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information or to sign up, call Jackie at 875-3454.
If you’ve ever wonder what else you can do with mushrooms, the Harbour House is the place to get some answers.
The Crystal Falls Senior Citizens Center will host a cribbage tournament beginning at 1:30 p.m. To sign up, call 875-6709.
The Ball Race kicks off the evening’s array of entertainment at 5 p.m. on Superior Avenue. That’s followed by the Community Pride parade at 5:30, also on Superior Avenue.
Back at Runkle Lake Park, the women’s softball game begins at 5:30, followed by the men’s softball game at 7. To sign up for the softball games, call Hans at 367-9142.
Saturday, Aug. 4: Starting the day a little hungry? Then it’s time for a trip to United Methodist Church for its pie social from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, at Runkle Lake Park, the volleyball tournament gets under way at 11, the Strong Man contest at noon, the buckboard and horseshoes at 1.

After a full day of food and fun, it’s time for a little dancing at the park to the music of the Lock and Load Band.
Sunday, Aug. 5: The weekend comes to a close with the Party Boys music duet at the VFW Hall on Superior Avenue from 2 to 5 p.m.
