ESCANABA—To accommodate reconstruction of M-189 from Genesee Street to U.S. 2 as well as the U.S.-2/M-189 intersection, the detour routes in Iron River changed Monday and will remain in effect until mid- to late August.

 Westbound U.S. 2 will remain detoured on Cayuga Street between River Avenue and  Ninth Avenue, one-way only. Eastbound U.S. 2 will be detoured on Genesee Street between Ninth and Fourth avenues, south on Fourth Avenue to Maple Street, and east on Maple Street to River Avenue.
 As M-189 will be closed from Genesee Street to U.S. 2, all M-189 traffic will need to use the U.S. 2 detour routes.
 U.S. 2 will remain open to local traffic east and west of M-189 in order to maintain access to businesses in downtown Iron River.
