CRYSTAL FALLS—On Sunday, July 8, at 4:20 p.m., Iron County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a report of an armed assailant in Iron River Township.
The initial report was that a disorderly subject was fighting with family members. The incident escalated, and the subject obtained a long arm and had fired two shots. The subject then barricaded himself in a relative’s house. After a brief standoff, communications were established, and the subject surrendered to the police. Deputies were assisted by the Iron River Police Department and the Michigan State Police. The suspect is awaiting arraignment in the 95B District Count on felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm under the influence of alcohol.
