CRYSTAL FALLS—The Crystal Falls District Community Library welcomes the public to a U.P. book tour event at the library on Saturday, July 7, at 2 p.m.
The U.P. Book Tour 2012 will be held in 20 sites across the Upper Peninsula between June 19 and July 17. Over 40 U.P. or Michigan based authors will participate in literary and theater events held to celebrate literature.

Featured writers include Jonathan Johnson, Janeen Rastall, Karl Bohnak, Marty Achatz, Emily Van Kley with author April Lindala serving as the event moderator. A book sale and signing opportunity will follow the presentation/panel discussion.
Book Tour Project Director Ron Riekki is an author, poet and playwright. Northern Michigan University Press will release two titles in June, Dandelion Cottage—A Play, adapted by Ron Riekki, and an anthology of plays called Your Map is Wrong—A Collection of Plays Set in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
The 2012 U.P. Book Tour is the subject of an upcoming documentary film under Riekki’s direction. The 2012 U.P. Book Tour partners with libraries, book stores, colleges, community centers and other organizations.
There is no admission charge to attend the program thanks to sponsorship, in part, by a grant from Michigan Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Listings of book tour events and authors can be found online at or call (906) 226-4318.
