CRYSTAL FALLS—Dustin Dishaw’s 18-hole score of 77 led the way for Forest Park’s boys golf team May 21, as the Trojans again captured first place in the Skyline/Central U.P. Conference tournament, held at George Young Golf Course.
Dishaw earned medalist honors, finishing three strokes ahead of Bark River-Harris’ Taren Halfaday, who shot an 80.
As a team, the Trojans finished with a team score of 340. Munising was second (349), and Bark River took third (369). Seven schools took part in the meet.
Dishaw shot 36 on the front nine and followed that with 41. Michiael Smithson shot 87 for the Trojans, while David Beck and Kevin Stankewicz both had 88s. Matt Sawyer’s 96 didn’t count in the team score.
In the girls tournament, Forest Park’s Lexi Gussert shot a nine-hole score of 53 to help the Trojans to fourth place.
Bark River-Harris won team honors with a team score of 226. North Central was second at 237, and Munising claimed third with 242, two strokes better than the Lady Trojans.
Following Gussert for Forest Park were Kaitlyn Bradley with 62, Hannah Marinoff with 64, Abby Sommers with 65 and Toni Santi at 67.
North Central’s Carly Charlier was girls medalist with a 51, followed by Mariah Farnsworth of Bark River at 52 and Gussert with 53.
• Coaches have also decided the all-Skyline-CUP conference team for this spring. Chosen from Forest Park were Michael Smithson, Kevin Stankewicz and Lexi Gussert. Ten boys and ten girls were selected.
