CRYSTAL FALLS—At approximately 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, the Iron County Central Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting a semi-truck/pickup truck personal injury crash.
Deputies from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection of U.S. 2 and Gibbs City Road in Iron River Township.
Preliminary investigation shows that the pickup driven by Adam Siebeck, 30, of Sherwood, Wis., was southbound on the Gibbs City Road and did not acknowledge the stop sign at the intersection of U.S. 2.
Siebeck crashed into the side of the westbound Pestka Trucking semi-truck/pup combination causing both vehicles to overturn.
Both vehicles also sustained extensive damage.
Siebeck, his passenger Eric Rowney, 32, of Pewaukee, Wis., and the driver of the semi-truck, Andrew Pestka, 21, of Ontonagon were all transported by Greater Iron County EMS and treated for non-life threatening injuries at Northstar Hospital.
Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor and the crash remains under investigation.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, the Iron River Police Department, the Michigan DNR, West Iron Fire Department, Iron County Search and Rescue, Ottawa Federal Forest Law Enforcement and Greater Iron County EMS.
Sheriff Mark Valesano reminds citizens that drinking and driving are a deadly combination.
“It’s a great time of the year to enjoy graduation and summer festivities, but please use good sense and designate a sober driver so that everyone makes it home safe and sound.”
