IRON RIVER—After finishing third at the Copper Country Invitational early in the week, West Iron County’s girls track team earned another team title May 4 at the Stephenson Invitational.
The Wykon boys were sixth at the Copper Country meet and fifth at Stephenson.
A pair of Division 1 schools, Houghton (168) and Calumet (123), claimed top girls team honors at the Copper Country tourney, held May 1 at Lake Linden. West Iron finished with 74 points, claiming third in the seven-team field.
The Wykon girls won one event, the 1600 relay. The team of Jaclyn Waara, Shannon Penkivech, Kylee Erickson and Joanna Pellizzer finished in 4 minutes, 23.67 seconds.
Second place went to Pellizzer in both hurdles races, Waara in the 400 and Megan Miatech in shot put. In third were two relay teams (the 3200 and 800) and Casey Harrington, who tied for third in the 100.

West Iron finished sixth in the seven-team boys field with 14 points. Houghton won with 188, with Calumet second (183.75) and Lake Linden Hubbell third (51.75).
