FP starts track season at Dome PDF Print E-mail

CRYSTAL FALLS—Forest Park’s track teams got its season under way on April 19 at the Division 3 indoor meet inside the Superior Dome in Marquette.
 The boys team finished in third place, while the girls took fourth.
 The boys had two first place finishes, from Jake Divine in the 800-meter run (2 minutes, 12.72 seconds) and Chris Hilberg in high jump (5 feet, 7 inches).
 Seconds were won by Alex Takala in the 200 (24.83) and the 3200 relay (Divine, Jon Curtis, Micah Ball and Mark Hallmann; 9:12.39).


 Takala also earned team points in the 400 (fourth) and 100 (seventh). Jacob Siler was third in both the 100 and 200.
 A total of 16 teams earned points at the event. Pickford won the team title with 76, followed by Rapid River (71.5), the Trojans (63), and Bark River-Harris and Munising (tied at 61).

 3200 relay: 2. FP (Jake Divine, Jon Curtis, Micah Ball, Mark Hallmann), 9:12.39.
 100: 3. Jacob Siler, 12.01; 7. Alex Takala, 12.20.
 1600: 7. Jeff Marchi, 5:20.10.
 400: 4. Takala, 54.96.
 800: 1. Divine, 2:12.72; 7. Mark Hallmann, 2:22.15.
 200: 2. Takala, 24.83; 3. Siler, 24.84
 Discus: 5. Steve Hallmann, 93-11.
 High jump: 1. Chris Hilberg, 5-7.
 In the girls competition, Forest Park got a first-place finish from Audrey Sholander, who completed the 55-meter hurdles event in 9.55 seconds.
 Sholander was also fourth in long jump and part of two relays. Mary Grandahl was third in the 200 and also ran in two relays.
 Eighteen teams earned points at the event. Superior Central took the team title with 94 points, well ahead of Bark River-Harris (61.5). They were followed by Pickford (44), Forest Park (43) and Ontonagon (41).

 55-meter hurdles: 1. Audrey Sholander, 9.55.
 100: 5. Ana Cornelia, 14.37.
 800 relay: 3. FP (Audrey Sholander, Shaina Bortolini, Mary Grandahl, Cornelia), 2:01.93.
 800: 6. Michelle Lato, 2:57.20.
 200: 3. Grandahl, 29.42.
 3200: 5. Casey Ponchaud, 13:58.28.
 1600 relay: 4. FP (Audrey Sholander, Adel Isaacson, Sierra Sholander, Grandahl).
 Long jump: 4. Audrey Sholander, 14-4.
 • The Trojans competed at the Florence Invitational April 23, at the Niagara Invitational on April 26 and at North Dickinson on May 1.
