IRON RIVER—March will be going out like a “lion” in the Iron River area on the last day of the month.
That’s the date, Saturday, March 31, when the Home, Business and Outdoor Expo will be held at the West Iron County High School gym and the Spring Craft and Garden Show will be held at the Windsor Center here.
Needless to say, county residents and visitors will find plenty of opportunities to browse, shop and make plans for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.
The Home, Business and Outdoor Expo, sponsored by the Iron County Chamber of Commerce, Michigan Works! and WIKB the Bull, is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the high school gym, 700 Washington Ave.

The day will feature giveaways at many of the booths. WIKB will be doing some “live” remotes for vendors and visitors. The local 4-H’ers will have a food booth at the gym.
Those attending the Expo will also have the opportunity to register to win a Phillips 19-inch HDTV.
Participating vendors in this year’s Expo include: Alternative Healing Center, Cleary Building Corp., CoVantage Credit Union, Dickinson-Iron District Health Department, First National Bank & Trust of Iron River, Forever Fire Safety, Iron County Medical Care/Victorian Heights, Iron County Right to Life, Iron County EDC, Iron River Country Club, JL Waterproofing, Kleiman Pump & Well Drilling, Krist Oil Co. & Propone, Lindwall Motors, Miners State Bank, MSU Extension, Nichols Flooring & Stone, Nordic Plumbing, NorthStar Health System, OPG-Office Planning Group, Sentinel Tech, Silver Moon, Stitch in Time, Porter School Market Place, Tru Recycling-John’s Industries, Twin Waters Energy, UP Chimney Inc., Waterfront Products, Watersmeet-Iron River USFS Ranger District, West End Home Furnishings, West State Wide Real Estate, Westphal’s Heating & Electrical, Wild Rivers Realty Inc. & Associates.
The Spring Craft & Garden Show will also be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Windsor Center on U.S. 2/Adams Street.
The day will feature arts and crafts vendors, gardening vendors, door prizes and food by Big Tones.
Glacial Gardeners Master Gardener Association, with some 34-plus gardeners from Florence County (Wis.) and Dickinson and Iron counties, will be holding workshops throughout the day.
“So, if you’re planning some gardening projects this year, the gardeners will be able to give you some timely pointers,” said craft and garden show organizers.
In addition to the workshops, the show will feature photography/poetry, ribbon jewelry, paper crafts, mosaics, soaps, yarn, knit/crochet and sewn items, beads, jewelry, wool candle mats, hair bows, wood crafts, Easter crafts, birdhouses, the Porter School Market Place, U.P. rodeo calendars, plants, quilt raffle, “and much more,” said organizers, including seed planting for youngsters.
