IRON RIVER—Those who enjoy watching gourmet cooks on the Food Network will enjoy the next Friends of the West Iron District Library event.
Debbie Gursky, gourmet cookbook author, will appear at the library on Monday, March 5, at 1 p.m. in the J. Patrick White Conference Room.
In addition to Gursky’s presentation, participants can enjoy a cheesecake buffet.
Gursky has owned and operated Cuisine Art in Iron Mountain for 22 years.
Her career has included restaurant work, catering for special dinner parties as well as gourmet weddings of 500 guests.
She has studied under Madame Kuony and now teaches cooking classes in her shop in downtown Iron Mountain.
Gursky has been doing kitchen and bath designs for 28 years and designs her kitchens, not just for those who love to cook but also for those who do not like to cook, in order to make their time in the kitchen more enjoyable.
In November 2011, she released the publication of her first in a series of cookbooks entitled,“Simply Gourmet,” which features recipes that are fancy and gourmet in caliber but are simple, quick and easy to prepare and serve.
Gursky was influenced by her mother, who had a gift for making food taste exceptionally good.
From a young age, Gursky was allowed to experiment in the kitchen, sometimes with her mother’s help and sometimes on her own.
As a young child, she often made picnic lunches for friends to take to the lake, thus beginning her career based around food.
Admission to the event is $5 at the door, which includes Gursky’s presentation and cheesecake dessert with toppings from a wide variety of choices.
Cheesecake can also be purchased for take-out.
