NEW YORK CITY—On Nov. 16, Reader’s Digest kicked off its second annual We Hear You America campaign, in which towns across the U.S. can compete to win funds and promotional support, including a grant of up to $50,000 for community projects.
Thousands of people have been logging on to www.readersdigest/america/com and been voting in droves in hopes that their town will win the grand prize, said a spokesperson for the publication.
“Any town is eligible to win, regardless of population. Last year’s grand prize winner, Grand Marais, Mich., attained 1,281,724 votes despite having a population of only 300, and the $40,000 prize money is being used to repair the town’s damaged sea wall,” said the spokesperson.
“Currently Florence, Wis., is ranked No. 245, whereas Florence, S.C. is No. 314 in the competition. Which Florence will come out on top and show that they are the town with the most community spirit? Florence locals can show their support by logging on to www.readersdigest.com/america and voting as many times as they like.”
“We Hear You America is truly a grassroots movement driven by community spirit,” said the spokesperson.
