CRYSTAL FALLS—The Iron County Board of Commissioners held its reorganizational meeting Jan. 3, making very few changes in operation for 2012. Commissioner Wayne Wales was re-elected as chairman; Bev Camp was re-elected vice-chairman. Commissioner Carl Lind will remain finance committee chairman, with Camp and Commissioner Fran Wills also serving on the committee.
The board approved a motion to hold one evening meeting each quarter, with time and place to be determined. Regular meetings remain the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 1:30 p.m. in the commissioners’ board room of the Courthouse. The board agreed the chairperson should serve a one-year term. The board adopted its rules of order, with a review of several rules, including one that requires two-thirds of the board to agree for a commissioner to call a meeting. Depositories for county funds were approved. They include all financial institutions and credit unions located within the county. Added to the list is First National Bank and Trust, which opened a branch in Iron River in December 2011. The board approved using attorney Steve Tinti as civil counsel for pending issues, and will discuss, at a later date, whether or not to designate other attorneys for county matters.
