KINGSFORD—The Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District, in conjunction with their Early Childhood Education and Special Education Departments
, will be conducting a DIAL screening (child development screening) for children ages 3 to 5 on Tuesday, Aug. 20, in Iron County and Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 21 and 22, in Dickinson County.
The screening on Aug. 20 in Iron County will be conducted at the Bates Center in Iron River. The screening on in Dickinson County will be conducted at the Early Childhood Education Willis Center, at 245 N. Balsam Street, Kingsford.
Screenings are open to the public on an appointment basis. The screening requires a relatively short time (about 30 minutes) and is easily interpreted. Developmental areas covered in the screening include cognitive or thinking skills, gross and fine motor skills (large and small muscle control), language and articulation capabilities of the child, hearing and vision screening.
If you want to have your preschooler screened free of charge, call the Early Childhood Education Department of the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District at 906-779-2695 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. There is no fee for this service.
Additionally, applications are being taken for the 2013-14 program year for Early Head Start, Head Start, Home Base Head Start and the Great Start Readiness Program.
