IRON RIVER—Several members of West Iron County’s boys tennis team have been voted to the all-U.P. Division 2 team by the U.P. Tennis Coaches Association.
The selections were made and announced last week.
Receiving all-U.P. honors were Austin Waara, the Wykons’ first singles starter; Ryan Rogers, second singles; and the first doubles team of Andrew Peterson and Sean Gustafson.
In addition, WIC’s Joe Serbentas was voted Division 2 coach of the year for the second time.
Several other Wykons received honorable mention in the all-U.P. voting: Alex Ralston, who started at fourth doubles, and the second doubles team of Joe Pisoni and Tylor Capadagli.
Waara, Gustafson and Ralston all were seniors this spring and have now graduated. The others played as juniors and should be back with the Wykon tennis team in spring 2014.
West Iron won its sixth U.P. Division 2 championship in the last nine years this spring.
