Meeting planned for junior historians - Wednesday, May 14, 2008
CASPIAN—A meeting of former members and participants in the Junior Historical Society will be held at the Iron County Museum h ere on Tuesday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m.
The group will discuss plans for their reunion, which has been set for Saturday, Aug. 30, of Labor Day weekend.
A program has been formed by Sue Passamani, and additional plans will be presented by the lunch committee. Cider making with the antique cider press, reminiscent of activities at the first fall meeting held each year, has been included in the reunion plans.
The museum is gathering information for a permanent exhibit; however, items for a temporary exhibit—pictures and notes on experiences during the period of the society’s existence—are being sought.
Another plan is to make a DVD. Old films were shown at the meeting in April.
The main project of the museum this year is to restore and preserve the log buildings in the Logging Camp and the Homestead areas on the museum grounds.
Junior historians assisted in the tearing down for moving and then rebuilding eight of them. Several of the structures are over 100 years old.
All former participants are invited to attend.
