FP boys 4th at Republic meet - Wednesday, May 7, 2008

CRYSTAL FALLS—While Forest Park’s boys track team didn’t win any events, its strength in many events helped it finish fourth during the seven-team Republic Invitational, held at Republic-Michigamme High School May 1.

The girls team won three events but wound up in fifth place.

Of the seven schools competing, four were Class C schools. However, Class D North Dickinson won both team titles.

Coaches Erich and Chandra Ziegler said they have very high expectations for their athletes. “These first few meets have shown they are highly capable of not only meeting but exceeding those expectations.”

Kyle Roberts and Tony Greco had the best finishes for the Trojan boys team. Roberts was runner-up in the 110 high hurdles, while Greco was second in the 1600 run. The team also got second place from its 3200 relay team, which was 3.86 seconds off the winning time.
